How meditation changes your brain

Ever wondered how your brain changes over days, months, or years of practice of meditation? Over the last two decades, scientific interest in mindfulness has led to hundreds of studies conducted and thousands of publications showing a range of benefits of mindfulness practice. A subset of those studies has focused on brain changes and related physiological changes. In this talk, Hans Melo will discuss the neuroscience underlying meditation starting with a historical overview and finishing with a discussion of the latest research.
Hans Melo holds a PhD in Computational Neuroscience in Reinforcement Learning from the University of Toronto. He has over 10 years of experience leading multidisciplinary data-driven projects in diverse fields, including neuroscience, statistics, machine learning, and high-performance computing. In addition, he holds an M.A. in Buddhist Studies and has been practicing meditation for over 10 years. Aside from his research, he serves as the scientific director for Potential Project where he consults on the neuroscience of mindfulness.
