Venerable Robina Courtin – Finding balance in difficult emotions – 5th January 2018
January 5, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm350kr – 450kr
“You are the creator of yourself, honey.”
Yeshe Norbu Mind Training Center Presents – Venerable Robina Courtin’s teachings on – Working with difficult emotions
We spend our life seduced by the outside world, convinced that happiness and suffering come from “out there.” When we get angry, depressed or anxious we tend to blame outer circumstances. Yet happiness and suffering come from the way we perceive and interpret things, not the things themselves.
How can we begin to unpack and unravel the workings of our own mind, so that we can find a reliable happiness that is not dependent on external conditions?
Ven. Robina Courtin, a Tibetan Buddhist nun since the late 1970s, will use the Buddha’s unique psychological skills to help us loosen our instinctive clinging to a limited sense of self, which lies at the heart of our suffering.
The teachings will be from 18-22 with a break for a light dinner together.
Venerable Robina’s teachings are unrelentingly challenging, hard-hitting, serious, funny, visceral, inspiring and empowering. She specialises in applying the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism to contemporary city life, using examples from TV, magazines and film.
Ordained in the late 1970s, Ven. Robina has worked full time since then for Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s FPMT. Over the years she has served as editorial director of Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala Magazine, executive director of Liberation Prison Project, and as a touring teacher of Buddhism. Her life and work with prisoners have been featured in the documentary films Chasing Buddha and Key to Freedom.
She has taught meditation to prisoners all over the world, developing a particularly close connection with people with life sentences in the USA.
